Situated on the Northern Beaches, around 21 kilometres from Sydney's city centre, Long Reef is a pristine expanse of white sandy beach.
Numerous shipwrecks lie beneath the waters of the Long Reef Aquatic Reserve, contributing to its intriguing history. During the 1970s and 80s, many vessels, such as the Manly ferries Dee Why and Bellubera, were intentionally sunk in the area to create artificial reefs.
On the northern offshore reef, known as the Long Reef Bombora, even slight swell starts to break at around a metre. However, in the presence of a robust southern swell, it can create a stunning wave that reaches up to five metres in height.
