The really special aspect of this image is what photographers call a reverse-sunset. This occurs when clouds on the Eastern side glow up, rather than on the Western side where the sun is setting.
Such sunsets are a rarity in NSW, as rain clouds typically approach from the inland (western side). Set against the iconic backdrop of a beach campsite near Seal Rocks and Smith Lake, this image captures one of those fleeting moments often missed in our bustling daily lives.
Number One beach is 1.3 km long and located beside the steep incline as you drive into Seal Rocks, with the narrow road wedged in between the beach and the hill.
